Ring Bearer

Uncle Jay & Aunt Leeze got married on December 3. It was literally the most gorgeous wedding we've ever been to (and we've been to some pretty spectacular weddings)!
The rehearsal dinner was held at The Intercontinental on the Country Club Plaza. Mimi and Papa planned such a wonderful evening with all of our friends and family! Everyone loved Will's outfit (khaki cords with a button down, sweater vest and bow tie!), and the bride-to-be looked like a million bucks!

Rehearsal at the church!

On the day of the wedding, all of the girls got ready at Mission Hills Country Club, where the reception took place. Leeze was as calm as could be!

The wedding took place at Grace & Holy Trinity Church, which was very old, and very beautiful. They asked their Godson to be the ring bearer, and we couldn't have been more excited! He wore the most darling little imp suit- black velvet jacket over a white button- down with a Peter Pan collar, velvet shorts, knee socks and saddle shoes! The aisle was incredibly long, and hardwood, so we opted to have Jay walk the Bug down the aisle and it was the most precious thing. Jay teared up as Leeze walked down the aisle, which I had a feeling might happen. I like to watch the groom while the bride is coming down the aisle. His first reaction upon seeing her is always the most magical (and fleeting!) moment for me. I was so honored to stand up among Jay & Leeze's very closest friends and family to watch as they got married!
The reception took place back at Mission Hills CC and it was fantastic! The food was fabulous, the cake gorgeous, the drinks flowing and the band- oh, the band was phenomenal! Everyone (literally!) danced the entire night away - especially the bride and groom! I loved it!

Then the newlyweds jetted off to Bora Bora for their honeymoon (rough life!). Sounds like a fairy tale from start to finish, right?
I could not be happier for the new Mr. & Mrs. G. Our family has basically loved Leeze since the first minute we met her. I don't think it's especially common to get along SO well with your in laws, but Leeze is such a welcome addition to our family. It's great that she's my sister-in-law now, but first and foremost she is such a dear, dear friend. I am already loving watching these two slip into married life together! I cannot think of two people better suited for each other than these two. I know that they are going to have the most amazing life by each other's side!

Happy Halloween!

Our little chicken had a fantastic Halloween! We only made it to two houses, but fortunately Mama and Dada got lots of "memmies" (M&M's) to give our trick-or-treaters and someone ended up with a pretty full bag of candy!

Newcomer

Today at the park an elderly woman with short, white hair dressed in a cute, red plaid button-down (which is really neither here, nor there, but y'all know I like all the details of a story!) walked by with her dog. Something about her reminded me of my grandmother, Mimmy, and her little white dog was very reminiscent of Mimmy's dog, Sally. Anyway, the Bug was very interested in her dog, as he is all dogs, and she noticed and kindly stopped for us to see him. She told me she thought my Bug was "such a sweet little boy" and told us her dog's name was Winston. After a few minutes of small talk, she asked how old the Bug is and I told her (16 months, I know you know that, but again- details). "Oh, he's just a newcomer", she replied. I'd never heard anyone put it that way before, but something about such a kind person in the later chapters of their life saying it so wistfully really stuck with me. It probably also helped that encounters like that with people who so vividly remind me of someone I love make it feel like we're not so far from home.

Pumpkin Patch {2011}

We went to the pumpkin patch with some of our friends from our MOPS group last week and had such a fun time!

The Bug saw tiny horses (which he was fine with, unless they looked at him- then, he would scream AT them and cling to me!), goats, lambs, chickens, roosters and a dog.

We also went on a hayrack ride, rode a train, and picked out a pumpkin to take home!

Such a fun day!

16 Months

You would think I'd be over the shock by now, of how quickly each month passes and how big my boy is getting. Each month, however, I find myself shaking my head in disbelief.

At 16 months, the Bug is a busy boy! Actually, that is the understatement of the year. He is non-stop, in the best way possible, of course! He no longer walks - but runs - everywhere. He LOVES anything with moving parts. He likes to push buttons, flip switches, open and close anything and everything.

He likes to turn out his bedroom light himself at nap time and he insists on pushing the button that lowers the tailgate of my car and locking the doors himself!

He loves going on walks and even knows which houses along the way have dogs. He points and asks "doggie?" if he doesn't see the dogs right away.

He loves the park, and this month he finally decided he was brave enough to crawl through one of the tunnels by himself! He was so proud of himself! I have to admit I was surprised by how much pride I felt watching him tackle a fear and how my heart soared to see him so pleased with himself!

Now, he zips through that tunnel like nobody's business!

He still loves playing with the dogs. Unfortunately for Annie ("Eee-eee"), chasing her around is a daily game! He calls for the dogs to come to him and likes giving them treats.

He still loves bath time, reading books, and playing outside. He loves playing with bubbles and tries to blow them himself (sometimes he is successful...sometimes he gets a soapy mouth!).

Bug is still a pretty good eater. Favorite foods still include macaroni and cheese, pizza, turkey, cheese, corn, asparagus, guacamole, strawberries, apples and bananas. While he is offered a cup of juice every now and then, water is still (thankfully!) his beverage of choice. He did recently try chocolate milk for the first time and was definitely a fan!

He is developing quite a list of words:
Cheese
Drink
Apple
Hi
Mimi
Papa
Truck
Ball
(I feel like I'm forgetting a few!) Have all been added to the list from last month.

When he wakes up in the morning he almost always yells out "Mamaaaa!". If I'm not fast enough getting to him (he is incredibly impatient...no idea where he gets that!), he'll yell for Daddy, Mimi, or Annie!

He associates the phone with Mimi. Anytime I call anyone or he hears me on the phone he says "Mimi?". We do talk to Mimi on the phone A LOT, though. He'll often come running holding the phone yelling "Mimi!" indicating that it's time to call her!

He is obsessed with pumpkins! Every time we see them, he gets SO excited! We have 6 of our own here at home and he likes to look at them and try to move them or carry them around!

Daddy coming home from work is still one of the biggest highlights of his day! He squeals when he hears Daddy's car in the driveway and runs to the door to see him!

We're seeing more and more of his personality. He is silly, stubborn, determined, thoughtful, impatient, sweet, and so smart! We love watching his mind work!

My sweet sweet boy,
I am in awe of you. You make your mommy and daddy laugh constantly! You bring so much joy to us and I don't have a single doubt that you were written on my heart before it ever took it's first beat. We thank God for you every day and love you oh so very much!
